SRHR COACH MASTERCLASS III KICKS OFF APRIL 17 TO EQUIP LIBERIAN YOUTH AS COMMUNITY EDUCATORS AND ADVOCATES

Monrovia, Liberia – Wednesday, April 16, 2025 – We are excited to launch the Cohort III of our SRHR Coach Masterclass tomorrow, April 17, welcoming a new cohort of young leaders ready to drive change in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) across Liberia.

Organized by Help a Mother and Newborn Initiative (HMNI), in partnership with medica Liberia, RFSU, Community Healthcare Initiative (CHI), and Orange Digital Center, this training marks the third successful cohort of empowering youth leaders in SRHR.

What Participants Will Learn

Across 8 days of intensive learning, 30 selected participants will:

  • Build a strong foundation in SRHR concepts and services
  • Tackle key issues like menstrual hygiene, contraception, infertility, miscarriage, abortion, and substance use
  • Strengthen their advocacy, communication, leadership, and digital storytelling skills
  • Design targeted community engagement campaigns

The Training Structure

The Masterclass includes three core modules:

  • Foundations of SRHR
  • Sexual and Reproductive Health Challenges
  • Leadership, Advocacy, and Community Engagement

Each day combines expert-led sessions with practical group work. Participants will create social media content, develop community outreach plans, and pitch real-life solutions to pressing SRHR issues.

Who Are the Participants?

  1. 60+ applied; 30 selected
  2. 89% are female, aged 20–35
  3. Mostly from Montserrado, with others from Margibi and Grand Cape Mount
  4. Backgrounds in nursing, public health, biology, social work, and human rights
  5. Many with prior SRHR experience in peer education, menstrual hygiene, and outreach
  6. High interest in topics like contraception, abortion rights, and infertility support

“This Masterclass empowers young people to lead conversations, challenge harmful norms, and help others make informed reproductive health choices,” said Lela Precious Dolo, Co-Founder and Executive Director of HMNI.

Day one will kick off with interactive sessions, participant introductions, and a roadmap for building community-focused SRHR advocates.
