Empowering Young Mothers: The Launch of HMNI’s “EmpowerHer Journey” Campaign

In Liberia, a monumental step is being taken to reshape the future of maternal health with the launch of Help a Mother and Newborn Initiative’s (HMNI) latest fundraising campaign, “EmpowerHer Journey.” This campaign is dedicated to empowering first-time young pregnant women from rural communites, ensuring they have the resources, knowledge, and community support needed to navigate motherhood confidently.

The Genesis of EmpowerHer Journey
Founded in 2021, HMNI has rapidly grown into a cornerstone for women’s and newborns’ health across Liberia, striving to create a supportive environment where they can thrive. With a sharp focus on rural communities, HMNI’s new campaign specifically targets the unique challenges faced by young, first-time pregnant women aged 13-25. These women are often at the highest risk of maternal complications, and empowering them is crucial for their health and the health of their newborns.

Why EmpowerHer?
EmpowerHer Journey is more than just a program; it’s a lifeline for young women who are often left at the margins. This data-driven initiative aims to equip these women with critical knowledge and skills for healthy pregnancies and sustainable motherhood. The program includes comprehensive components like:

Targeted Recruitment: Identifying participants through partnerships with local health facilities.
Baseline Surveys: Assessing the specific needs and challenges faced by each woman to tailor support effectively.
Awareness and Educational Workshops: Covering essential topics such as prenatal care, nutrition, and maternal well-being.

The program requires a total budget of $18,375.00, and HMNI is encouraging donations of at least $5 monthly to sustain these vital efforts.
