Paynesville, Liberia – October 14, 2024 – The SRHR Coach Masterclass Cohort II, a program designed to equip young leaders with the knowledge, skills, and tools to become champions of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), has proudly graduated its second cohort of certified SRHR Coaches. This program, held at the TuMi’s Event Center in GSA Road brought together participants, partners and well wishes.

Empowering Young Leaders

The Masterclass, organized by Help a Mother and Newborn Initiative (HMNI) in collaboration with partners [list partners], provided in-depth training to 40 young leaders aged 18-30. The participants, hailing from diverse fields such as medicine, public health, journalism, education, and social work, are now well-equipped to advocate for SRHR in their communities.

Building Capacity and Awareness

The intensive curriculum, hands-on training, and interactive sessions ensured that participants gained:

  • In-depth SRHR Knowledge: The Masterclass covered key concepts, policies, and challenges in SRHR, along with best practices to address them.
  • Coaching and Advocacy Skills: Participants developed critical skills in coaching, advocacy, and communication, empowering them to lead SRHR initiatives and facilitate positive conversations in their communities.

Measurable Impact

  • Empowered Young Leaders: The program empowered 39 young leaders with SRHR knowledge and skills.
  • Community Engagement: A successful outreach project in Fendell raised awareness of SRHR challenges and opportunities amongst 50+ students from 3 schools. Participants also designed and initiated five innovative community-based projects, tailored to meet the specific needs of their local communities.
  • Network Expansion: The Masterclass has expanded the network of young SRHR advocates from 30 to 60 members, building a strong coalition of youth dedicated to promoting reproductive health and well-being.

Expert Guidance and Future Plans

The participants benefited from expert facilitation and mentorship provided by seasoned professionals and alumni, covering diverse topics such as reproductive health, leadership, and advocacy.

Looking ahead, HMNI plans to launch two more cohorts in 2025, each targeting 40 young leaders. We aim to expand the program and offer scholarships to ensure that more passionate advocates have the opportunity to join the movement.
