Menstrual Hygiene Trainer of Trainers Workshop to Equip 35 Change-Makers Across Liberia

Date: April 24, 2025
In celebration of Menstrual Hygiene Day, Help a Mother and Newborn Initiative (HMNI) and the Foundation for the Advancement of Girls (FAG) are proud to host the Menstrual Hygiene Trainer of Trainers Workshop on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Liberian Learning Center, Paynesvile City, Liberia
The workshop brings together 35 passionate young leaders, ages 20 to 33, from across Montserrado and Margibi counties. With participants representing over 10 institutions and organizations, including the University of Liberia, Ministry of Health, AIESEC Liberia, and Cuttington University, this training will lay the foundation for a wider community impact.
Why It Matters
Across Liberia, many still lack access to accurate information about menstruation. Taboos and silence lead to poor menstrual hygiene, health risks, and school absenteeism. This workshop aims to break those barriers by preparing youth to teach, advocate, and lead menstrual hygiene education efforts.
What to Expect
The interactive workshop will cover:
- Understanding the menstrual cycle and debunking myths
- Safe hygiene practices and available menstrual products
- Training techniques and facilitation skills
- Community engagement strategies to reach girls, boys, schools, and rural communities
Special focus will be placed on:
- Men’s involvement in menstrual education
- Sustainable, community-led solutions
- Peer learning and youth leadership
All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation, and one outstanding participant will be spotlighted on HMNI’s social media platforms.
Who’s Attending?
- 35 participants
- Majority are university students, with some technical/vocational trainees and recent graduates
- Many are affiliated with youth and women-led organizations, ready to cascade knowledge into their communities
This workshop aligns with HMNI and FAG’s goal to ensure that menstrual health is no longer a barrier to dignity, health, or opportunity.
